Ahh yes, another party. Every year on the 23rd, my parents have a party just for our little immediate family. Since me and my brother are the only kids, it's pretty low key. Although with 5 kids running around (technically 4 cause Brody is pretty chill these days) it can get a little crazy. When Madi, Rett and Bryn get together - it's a zoo. But it's fun to see them all play together. Especially now since Kinlee is getting older and playing with the "big kids".
We ate, opened gifts and then on to our annual tradition of the "Gingerbread house competition"! Last year we did guys against girls, but this year it was couples vs. couples.....probably the last time we do that. Right babe? ha ha - they guys kept joking that "if our marriage can make it through this...." Ya - they think they're pretty dang funny. I'm pleased to announce, that yes, our marriage survived the competition.....by a thread!
Rett loves playing with Grandpa's train set. He says it's the Polar Express.
My mom has been collecting little pieces for her "village" since I was young. I always loved helping her set it up. Now the kids love to "rearrange" it all.
And of course our very happy boy. You could be having the worst day - and then he smiles at you. Trust me...it makes everything all better (almost)!
Bring on the competition!!! Of course, Mike and Ash came with the coolest decorations and were generous enough to share.
Our MASTERPIECE!!! Complete with "log" roof and door, rock pathway, and lush green grass sprinkled with snow. Truly a dream cabin.
Mike & Ash's Masterpiece! Woodland creatures resided there I think...
Poor Kiners broke her leg the week before. She wasn't too happy,
but she got some cuddles from Uncle Bry...
Rett entertained himself pretty well. It's funny how boys come equipped with so many sound effects....
Probably the best gift of the night - according to Rett. Grandma and Grandpa got him his own remote control helicopter. My dad has one and that's always the first thing he asks for when we go over there. He played with that thing all night long.
Thanks again for such a fun party mom and dad!! We love you!!
